Our expertise is global,
our approach local

Brazil has been an important market for Wärtsilä for a long time and 2010 was no exception.

During the year, Wärtsilä signed several important contracts in all tree business areas; In Ship Power Wärtsilä signed a major contract to supply a total integrated power solution for a new Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel to Brazil. The vessel is unique in that it will be the first FPSO vessel ever to operate on more than 100 MWe of installed power, produced by gas engines. In Power Plants, Wärtsilä signed a contract for building a 380 MW power plant in Brazil. This is Wärtsilä’s largest single power plant project ever. Wärtsilä was also awarded several operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts for power plants in Brazil. With the signing of these contracts, Wärtsilä now operates and maintains 15 power plants in Brazil having a combined energy output of 1.5 GW. All of these contracts confirm Wärtsilä’s global and innovative expertise as well as its local approach.
